The project included the upgrade of existing electrical infrastructure, including new lounges, a spa retreat and craft/hobby communal areas. In addition, improved staff facilities—all while maintaining a live operational environment for residents.

Planning and Design Considerations

Careful planning was essential due to the sensitivity of working in a live care home. Health and safety, minimal disruption, and compliance with Care Quality Commission (CQC) guidelines were central to the design process. Electrical layouts were designed with flexibility, ease of maintenance, and future-proofing in mind. Features included nurse call systems, emergency lighting, energy-efficient LEDs. Accessibility upgrades were also incorporated featuring intuitive lighting control layouts.

Installation and Coordination

Installation was carried out in carefully phased sections to allow the care home to remain fully operational. Close coordination with the care home management team ensured residents' routines were respected and that noise, dust, and service interruptions were kept to a minimum. Electrical works included rewiring of revised layouts and new distribution boards. Regular coordination meetings with other contractors, subcontractors, and site managers ensured safe and efficient progress.
