Electrical installation of Walled Residential Cotswold Develpment

Project Overview
The EV charging installation at the Walled Gardens, Kingham, was commissioned as part of a high-spec residential development by Castlethorpe Homes. The project aimed to future-proof the homes by integrating accessible, efficient, and scalable electric vehicle charging infrastructure. A total of 4 dual EV charge points were installed across allocated parking bays within the development, offering both functionality and alignment with modern sustainability standards.

Planning and Design Considerations
During the planning phase, coordination with Castlethorpe Homes and GEC Electrical was key to ensuring the EV infrastructure aligned with the site layout and power availability. Load management, cable routing, and DNO approval were central considerations. Charger placement was designed to ensure accessibility and minimal disruption to the landscape aesthetics.

Installation and Coordination

Installation was carried out in line with the build schedule, requiring close coordination with groundwork. Trenching, containment, and protective ducting were completed prior to final surface finishes, with cabling and EV point mounting following shortly after. All works were completed to IET Code of Practice standards for EV charging equipment installation. Final commissioning included functionality testing, safety checks, and smart charging configuration.

Outcome and Client Feedback

The project was delivered on schedule and met both the developer's and local planning authority’s sustainability targets. The client, Castlethorpe Homes, expressed strong satisfaction with the discreet yet functional integration of the EV infrastructure.
